- Abstract
The CSG is a world-class spaceport formed to be maintained to meet Europe’s present and future needs. It is key to (1) guaranteeing continuity in independent and reliable access to space to serve Europe’s freedom of action and space ambitions through Ariane, Vega (2) developing and addressing new services while complying with societal needs (new satellites generations, climate neutrality, technological breakthroughs, …). In the coming months, the CSG will experience major changes with the arrival of two new launch systems, Ariane 6 and Vega-C. This will be combined with the need to adapt to an increasingly competitive environment and new external requirements (e.g. environmental sustainability, diversified demand including more small satellites). So, besides the normal exploitation activities, a progressive renovation and modernization has been decided: the Core Launch Range Renewal (CLRR). The CLRR includes some key investments as renewal of ageing networks, and the first step of CSG modernisation as new Operations Center (CDO gathering operational teams and systems, and introducing new working methods), new energy management systems (eg 20 KVA electrical power loop ie the backbone of the energetical transformation of the whole Spaceport), in view of contributing to secure and enhance the operational efficiency. The paper introduces the planned renovation and modernization activities and their status.
