- Abstract
Many children believe that space is exclusively the domain of astronauts, engineers, or scientists. Educators and parents are often of the same mindset. But space is for everyone, and the associated careers are wide and varied. Spaceports are just one domain where many individuals contribute to the success of a space program, each a valuable member of this unique sector. A review of online learning resources for children, parents, and teachers reveals educational tools for a wide range of space-related topics, such as rockets, propulsion, and planets. Yet, no resources were found on the topic of spaceports. Focus groups, experiments, and secondary data analysis were used to develop an educational curriculum on spaceports for young children using LEGOs. Spaceport infrastructure, career opportunities and a multicultural workforce were the foci, demonstrating that space is a place for everyone.
