- Abstract
In Peru, there are 95 universities with an approved operating license; however, there still needs to be an undergraduate academic program in space engineering or aerospace engineering in any of these 95 universities. Despite this, the increase of students, young professionals, professionals and the general public in space issues is significant. Faced with this situation and as a first step, prior to the possibility of creating an undergraduate program in aerospace engineering, the "Introduction to Space Systems" course has been created at the Universidad Nacional Tecnologica de Lima Sur (UNTELS). The creation and development of this course will be supported by the research work carried out by members of the Aerospace Sciences & Health Research Laboratory (INCAS-Lab) of the UNTELS. This course is the first of its kind among the 95 Peruvian universities. To achieve the creation of this course, one worked hand in hand with the professors who are members of the curricular commission of the electronic and telecommunications engineering academic program in constant coordination with the director of said professional school. It is expected that with the creation of this course, one will have more professionals with the ability to enter into the space technology industry, an industry that is growing in the Latin American region. Likewise, the first aerospace engineering program at the undergraduate level in Peru is expected to be available very soon.
