Russian aerospace festival as a element of children space education

- Abstract
Russian Aerospace Festival is a complex of aerospace-oriented events hold in various cities of the Russian Federation in order to popularize cosmonautics and involve schoolchildren in aerospace technologies. The Festival takes place every year from March to November, most of the Festival events take place on the eve of April 12, the day of the first Earth cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin flight, and during the World Space Week on October 4-10. In 2022 more than 15000 children took part in the events of the Festival in person, and digital content in social networks and events in online format have viewed by more than a million users from the Russian Federation, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Turkmenistan. This article reviews the most successful events and formats of the Festival, and also observe the Festival as an element of a unified system of engineering competitions and Olympiads, that prepare children for study in technical universities and work in rocket and space industry in future. The Festival is held by Federal Center of Supplementary Education in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Roscosmos Corporation. The Festival organizers posted methodological materials on the website of nauchim.online so that educational institutions could independently hold space events - quizzes, space quests, master classes, thematic lessons, etc. On the youtube channel of the festival, the organizers broadcast rocket launches, meetings with cosmonauts and specialists of the rocket and space industry, educational videos about perspective space projects and space institutes. Engineering competitions were held for the most skilled children – accelerator of children space projects in consulting with rocket and space industry specialists, aerospace hakathon with the tasks from technical universities and private space companies, interactive space flight imitation «Space Oddysey». The most successful participants were invited to participate in the educational program at the Vostochny cosmodrome. As a result of participation in the Festival, schoolchildren have the opportunity to get acquainted with current problems of cosmonautics, communicate with cosmonauts and specialists of the rocket and space industry, conduct professional tests in various areas of aerospace technologies, develop their own technical project of STEM methodology under the guidance of experts and get acquainted with the activities of enterprises and technical universities.
