- Abstract
We will have a continuous human presence on the Moon and beyond. The International Lunar University (ILU) sets out to be the first of its kind, state-of-the-art institution focused on education and research about and on the Moon. By combining cutting-edge research with comprehensive education, ILU will equip future generations with the skills and knowledge necessary for humanity’s survival and prosperity on the Moon and beyond. The International Space University 2024 Space Studies Program Team Project developed a comprehensive and forward-looking framework for establishing an International, Intercultural, Interdisciplinary and Interplanetary educational institution (on Earth, on Moon and virtual) dedicated to lunar exploration and research. Here we present the steps necessary to establish a robust educational infrastructure and for developing an interdisciplinary curriculum that merges various scientific, technological and humanistic studies within a lunar context.
