    Abstract
This paper deals with Specifications of Autonomy Requirements for Manned Space mission for both, space and ground segment, utilizing the latest technology and resources. This paper is conglomeration of both the experience in handling unmanned missions and research on launching manned mission. As manned missions involve human life, it calls for paramount importance in dealing with the interface between Man and Machine, addressing all the current issues.

Space segment deals with the requirements of intelligent software and hardware for autonomous handling of various subsystems, during various phases of mission with a goal “No single point failure will jeopardize the Mission and More than one failure will ensure safe return of humans”. The architecture on-board the manned mission will be based on embedded software and hardware systems, which will address problem-solving techniques, finding alternative solutions, model-based approach, control strategies, plan generation, speech recognition etc.

Ground segment strategy ensures the safety of the crew and the manned mission objectives are achieved. Ground segment addresses requirements of tracking coverage, autonomy in terms of space module telemetry monitoring and commanding. The software architecture would be based on hierarchical approach, which deals right from validation of data, autonomous subsystem trend analysis, Decision Support System (DSS) based on models, events and statistical analysis, aiding the ground controllers in achieving faultless mission operations.
