Abstract

Last year, KARI developed “K2PS (K2 Terminal for Polar Station)” which is system for commercialization of KOMPSAT2. K2PS consists of the processing system and the receiving system. Receiving system is installed at Svalsat located in Svalbard of the North Pole and processing system is installed at KSAT in Tromso of Norway and SISA (Spot Image SA) in Toulouse of France. Meanwhile, IRPE (Image Receiving & Processing Element) is installed at KARI.
Basically, the image from K2PS and KARI IRPE should have the same quality but not.

Therefore, it is necessary to upgrade K2PS to guarantee the image quality from K2PS and KARI IRPE. As well, the operation concept should be changed if the K2PS is upgrade-designed. 
In this paper, new design of the upgraded K2PS and the changed operation concept for the new design are introduced and studied.
