- Abstract
Four types of hat stiffened composite panels were manufactured with different bonding methods and stiffener section shapes. Compression tests of these panels were performed. Four panels showed similar behaviors in bucking and post-buckling region before skin-stiffener separation failure occurred. All the separation failures were initiated at the stiffener flanges close by skin buckling crests. However the separation loads, separation failure propagation behaviors and final collapse loads were different with respect to bonding methods and stiffener section shapes. All the panels collapsed through compression failure of the separated stiffeners. And the tests show that the collapse loads of the panels were dependent on the separation initiation load and the range of separation failure area.
