    Abstract

Low pressure can improve the growth and development of higher plants in certain degree, and decrease the cost of building controlled ecological life support system (CELSS) on future Moon or Mars base. To hold the cultivating technique of higher plants for CELSS, the means of comparative measurement were adopted to study the growth and physiological characteristic of one lettuce(Lactuca satica L. var. Youmaicai) under low and normal pressure (40.0kPa, 101.0kPa). The results showed that germination rate of the lettuce seeds was eliminated by 7.62
