    Abstract
We report on the first SETI observations made with a 42-antenna subset of the Allen Telescope Array, taken in the summer of 2007. This set of measures includes synthesized beams formed over a two-degree-high strip of galactic longitude extending over 20 square degrees of the central part of the Galaxy. Within this strip lie many tens of millions of star systems. In this paper, we describe the distance range and number density of these SETI targets, the sensitivity and bandwidth coverage of the search, and the observational results.
