- Abstract
In 2008, the Japanese Experiment Module, called "KIBO" will start its operation. At 1JA/STS-123, two multi-user research facilities racks, Fluid Physics and Crystallization Experiment Rack and Cell Biology Rack, will be launched into ISS. After 1J/STS-124, those two racks will be moved into KIBO and the full-scale utilization will start just after the initial check out. Not only the science experiments, but also the educational and cultural utilization are planned in the KIBO. Some ISS experiments have been already accomplished in the ISS using the Russian Service Module(SM). Those are protein crystallization experiments, photonic crystal growth experiment and radiation monitoring. The latest Japanese near-term and long-term ISS utilization plan will be presented, as well as the experiments results conducted in the ISS.
