    Abstract
One of the main tasks set for the ISS is to utilize the unique opportunities it gives to carry out national scientific and research programs. The main reason for the development of a new Russian orbital module of the ISS is the enhancement of its capabilities in order to effectively run Russian scientific and research programs. The concept of the modular structure which provides for the effective utilization of its design to form work sites for payloads, use of robotics for automatic payload transfer from pressurized compartments to external areas and back has been proposed and is now being implemented, ensuring further evolution of the ISS Russian Segment.
