- Abstract
In view of future human exploration missions, ESA is preparing and carrying out a series of relevant studies in the field of human physiology, psychology and radiation biology using Earth analogues. These studies include activities on the ISS, the Antarctic station Concordia, where both scientific and technological tests are performed, the participation in the 500-day isolation study to be carried out in the Russian IBMP institute, bed-rest and centrifuge studies, and radiation studies using particle accelerators. This presentation will give an overview of the current status of these studies, the equipment and protocols that have been developed and the results obtained thus far. The presentation will conclude with a future outlook of these studies and the use of the ISS as a technological and scientific testbeds for further validation.
