    Abstract
The Space-technology Demonstration Research Center (SDRC) in JAXA has studied the small satellites to obtain highly functional space demonstration platform since 1998. After our first small satellite called MicroLabSat was launched in 2002, we have been studying next generation small satellite and have developed advanced small components required to achieve accurate attitude determination and orbit determination with high-speed processing.

In 2006, a 100kg-class satellite project called Small Demonstration Satellite (SDS) was initiated. This project provides a useful standard platform for newly developed components and for advanced space-mission technology with timly launch opportunity. The study of quick, low-cost satellite developments is one objective of this project. The satellite will be launched in summer 2008.

The paper describes the roadmap of small satellite program in JAXA and introduces the missions and development status of the Small Demonstration Satellite.
