- Abstract
The Paper presents the results of joint researches of rocket-space area specialists of the European Space Agency and the National Space Agency of Ukraine concerning the possibility of removal of long-life part of radioactive waste of nuclear power plants into space. Removal of long-life radioactive waste from the Earth might be the cardinal solution of the problem. The research results presented in the Paper show potential possibility of development of rocket-space systems, which are capable to remove into space the radioactive waste long-life part, which is of the greatest danger at ground burial. At the present stage of research it is expedient to develop the options of technical concept of modernized launch vehicles of "Zenit" and "Arian-5" class when applied to tasks of removal of radioactive waste into space. It is reasonable to use the first stages of these launch vehicles with minimal modernization. Essential changes are proposed in technical concept of orbital stages. Results of the initial stage presented in the Paper may be used as correct initial data for continuation of development of orbital stages options. Based on the above data it is proposed to specify new technical solutions allowing to raise essentially the efficiency of application of rocket-space systems for removal of radioactive waste into space.
