    Abstract
The system design of launch vehicle is a cooperative, multidisciplinary process participated by many domain experts. Recently, the emergence of Integrated Product Process Design (IPPD) and Multidiscipline Design Optimization (MDO) method has changed the system design pattern of complex products. The integrated system design of launch vehicle is a typical application area of IPPD and MDO.

Although the use of COTS software has greatly improved the design quality of launch vehicle system, it causes problems in data exchange and integrated multi-domain analysis. Because most COTS and in-house software applications have domain specific input, output, and model description format, it’s hard to put all the domain applications together in a native way to do a multi-domain computation work like structure and aerodynamic coupled analysis. Technical measurements must be taken to improve the process integration efficiency of system design of launch vehicle.

In this paper, the concept of process integration and multidiscipline design optimization is introduced. Based on the requirement analysis of complex product design like launch vehicle, a process integration environment architecture named HyperDesign is put forward.
The HyperDesign architecture is composed of three levels: Application, Service and Kernel.

The application level includes the performance evaluation and analysis tools, like CAx tools, simulation tools, cost tools, etc. These applications are domain specific and have explicit I/O file descriptions or SDK, which are important for the application to be integrated.

The service level is composed of several tools, which are used to wrap the COTS and in-house applications into “model components”. Moreover, the service level provides tools to integrate the multi-domain model components into a higher level's coupled system model.

The kernel level of HyperDesign architecture is used to handle the task of data management and data mapping of process integration. In this level, the consistency mapping and agent based scheduler tools are used to ensure the multi-domain analysis work flow is executed correctly and efficiently under a common database architecture.

Furthermore, the key technologies used in the implementation of HyperDesin are discussed in the paper, and the application of HyperDesin is introduced.
