Space Education Working Group ,which is one of four working groups of Asian /Pacific Space Agency Forum(APRSAF) organized Water Boosted Rocket Event in Japan in 2005 and in Indonesia in 2006 respectively. One junior high school(12-15 years old) student who was chosen through national competetion and the leader attended from 9 Asia /Pacific countries and 13 countries for the 1st and 2nd Event respectively. In 2007,the third Event will be held in India, sponsored by Indian Space Research Organization.
The program has two major targets for education; 1.to stimulate the curiosity of young generation as almost all students are interested in space, and 2.to open their eyes toward outside through interaction with people from various countries of different cultures.
The program also tries to touch environmental issues by lecture ,which is given during the Event, on the deforestation, global warming, ozone depletion of our planet earth. Finally the program provides excellent opportunity to ask further support from taxpayer through attendants of the Event, who are informed on the importance of space activities.
APRSAF is organized every year by Japan Space Exploration Agency and Ministry of Education, Culture ,Science and Technology.
