    Abstract
Including many subjects, the aerospace industry is highly integrative and compositive, which is also based on the tight integration of theory and practice. Everyone employed in this field should master primary knowledge firmly and get outstanding ability of innovation. Furthermore, it is necessary for the staff to develop practical capability and group spirit. For these reasons, universities are incumbent on the education for the technical staff who will meet all of the above requirements. During the autumn in 2005, BUAA started to find out a new mode to train the top students by the way of supporting undergraduates to carry out sounding rocket project called Beihang No.1. The undergraduates accomplished the whole process independently, which contained design, manufacture, assemblage, transport, launch and so on. The rocket equipped with solid engines was used to measure the atmosphere, so it was designed to be 2.35 meters long and could fly to 9800 meters high. On November the first in 2006 the sounding rocket was successfully launched in Jiuquan Satellites Launch Center. The mode of training students through integrative project got great achievements as follows: promoting the students’ ability to integrate their knowledge through the cooperation between different subjects, increasing their capability to innovate through integrating theory and practice, developing their ability to join in engineering through the combination of manufacture, study and research, setting up the group spirit through the project, etc. In this paper, what are analyzed in detail are the current conditions and requirements of the technical staff in the aerospace industry and present training mode for undergraduates at the universities in China. In the end, the experience in the process is summarized.
