    Abstract
SCEDL is an abbreviation of Spacecraft Concurrent Engineering Design Lab which is specially designed and built by Shenzhou Institute, CAST, used for cultivating CAST’s postgraduates, employees and trainees of the customers to quickly be acquainted with his working environment. The concept of SCEDL originated from the on-job training of NIGCOMSAT-1 satellite project. This project was the first in orbit delivery of a comms satellite to world market in which a successful handshaking between China and Nigeria on space technology was done.
SCEDL is composed of individual working area, team working area and server area. The main advantage of SCEDL is that students can not only do their own analysis and design on it but also do some trade off of the design on the collaborative platform within his team and/or with the help of teachers. By this means, a consistent set of design parameters can be defined and exchanged throughout the study, and any changes which may have an impact on other disciplines can immediately be identified and collectively assessed.
This kind of training method will let students take advantage of using satellite specialized software to put the concept satellite into visualized satellite and facilitate an effective interaction of all disciplines involved, ensuring consistent and high-quality results in a way of idea exchanging. It also builds a foundation for those personnel who are going to take part in the field of satellite design.
