    Abstract
The Véhicule Suborbital Habité (VSH) challenge is based on an air-launched manned reusable suborbital vehicle promoted by Astronaut Club Européen (ACE), founded and led by European astronaut Jean-Pierre Haigneré. 19 teams, gathering more than a hundred undergraduate and graduate students have participated to develop innovative solutions for the VSH. These students - who study a large range of different subjects including aerospace and mechanical engineering, law, communication or design - have been encouraged to put together teams and seek endorsement from their home institutions before applying to work on one of the 8 work packages proposed by the "Challenge". At the end of spring 2007, they presented their results, which were evaluated and ranked by a special "Challenge Committee". The best teams have been rewarded during a special June 2007 event with partners (ACE, Dassault Aviation, GIFAS, IAF, Safran and Thales). Team solutions are being compared to those currently proposed for the VSH and may ultimately be used by ACE if deemed more efficient.
