    Abstract
For too long now the field of space studies has remained a secret, made known to only a select few. The majority of people know very little about the International Astronautical Federation Congress, space studies programs, symposia and opportunities which exist in the myriad of space studies fields. The proposed paper will set forth various strategies for creating public awareness about the outer space development community. This includes outlining key steps for creating public awareness campaigns for students at all levels: elementary school, high school and college. This further includes suggested plans for increasing public awareness for students interested in areas of study not traditionally focused on space, such as political science, international affairs, sociology, psychology, hotel and restaurant management and education. The paper will also outline strategies for engaging members of the general public and making them aware of the various emerging space industries in ways that they deem relevant for their life’s goals and interests. As it is, the field of outer space is developing in a way where only a few elite companies, individuals and countries are likely to benefit in a meaningful way. This is undemocratic and is likely to repeat patterns of massive inequality gaps between countries and between people. This pattern will continue unless those currently left out of this process are made aware and are engaged.
