    Abstract
The Astronautical and Rocket Society of Celje (ARSC - Astronavtično in raketno društvo Celje) has been involved in activity and in experimental programs since early in 1962 and until 2003. This unprofitable and non - government organization had limited budget, but has even though given an opportunity to anybody who had interest to work, educate itself and to actively participate in the field of astronomical and rocket science.
The major activities of the organization were: educating, popularization and practical work with trainings in the field of rocket technology.

Popularization and education included lecturing, exhibitions, presence in different media, publishing professional publications and articles, and also participating in international professional meetings and congresses.

Practical activities within rocket technology were amateur and semi-professional. They covered four major programs: Postal rockets project, Vega project, RCHX-STORM project and Sirius project.

Even though that that time communist authorities never appreciated this field of activities, the ARSC through its operation managed to attract attention and to get informal support from universities, institutes, and progressive fields of economics.
Numerous members, who started working for ARSC included the organization’s issues into regular studying, and some of them even achieved a doctor’s and master SCI. degree, while two members became professors at the University of Ljubljana. Other members asserted themselves in economics.

In the history of ARSC between 1962 and 2003 were lunched more than too hundred experimental rockets bigger too 1m long and in weight more than 10 kg without of any serious accident.

Thinking and awareness of hazard are probably the most important expects of safe operation.
To effectively control potential propellant hazard certain concrete action should be taken. One of the most important actions is the education and training, what we do all of the time in ARSC.

In these article founders of ARSC and its long life members show intentions and achievements of this organization within the past forty years.
