    Abstract
An examination and overview of selected concepts and terms in the 1967 "Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies" and, where appropriate, subsequent treaties and United Nations resolutions. This analysis will conceptualize the law of outer space in light of changes in the structure of the international balance of power from the time of the Cold War to the present. In addition, the forces of globalization will be assessed in terms of how they affect space law and vice-versa. Special attention will be paid to these concepts : peaceful purposes, peaceful benefits, province of all mankind, international cooperation, freedom, sovereignty, ownership and weapons of mass destruction. There will be an evaluation of the development of space law and the challenges facing the rule of law as humankind enters the fifth decade of the Outer Space Treaty.
