    Abstract
    DFH-4 platform is a large geostationary communications satellite platform that China Academy of Space Technology (CAST) developed since the end of last century. On May 14, 2007, Nigcomsat-1 satellite based on DFH-4 platform was successfully launched and positioned, the satellite operated well till now. The platform had passed the flight verification.
    
    For the satellite based on DFH-4 platform, the launch mass is around 5100kg, the EOL output power is more than 10 KW, the lifetime is 15 years. This baseline can meet most common geostationary satellites requirements and had got a series of satellite orders.
    
    But along with the wider satellite application and the faster the satellite technology development, the payload put forward higher requirement for platform. Satellite payload requires more mass, more power, longer life and more stable attitude pointing. The enhanced DFH-4 platform development is on the schedule.  
    The enhanced DFH-4 platform will include the electrical propulsion system, synthesized electrical system, high efficiency power system and large communications module. The satellite can accommodate the payload which has 800kg mass and 8 KW power. This platform can attend the commercial satellite market with more competition capability.
    
    This paper introduces the technical configuration of the enhanced DFH-4 platform, the product line of the whole DFH-4 platform family and some of their typical application.
