    Abstract
    JAXA developed aquatic animal experiment facility called the Aquatic Habitat (AQH), and a special microscope system for the Kibo in order to perform series of experiments using small fresh water animals like Japanese “Medaka”.
    
    The first experiment using aquatic animal in the ISS have performed during October to December time frame in 2012 under the collaboration between Japan and RussiaJAXA conducted experiment operation using the AQH while Roscosmoss/RSC Energia performed launch and return experiment samples by the Soyuz vehicles.
    AQH launched at July 2012 by the HTV 3 from Tanegashima-island, and then Medaka fish as the specimen launched from Bikonur by Soyouz 32S at October 23rd. Two month long experiment successfully started from October 26th. and finished on December 25th.  The second joint experiment is scheduled on Mid of 2013 as short term in-situ observation experiment.
    In this paper, initial commissioning results of AQH on-board the ISS, joint launch preparation activity at the Baikonur and experiment results from the technical point of view will be presented.
