    Abstract
    Ethiopians have long tradition of looking at the night sky but the lack of scientific knowledge has limited the development of the science. Space Science programme is a recent event in Ethiopia;Formal space programstarted in 2004 with the establishment of Ethiopian Space Science Society. In the past 11 years number of development has encountered in space education, community outreach, curriculum preparation and space policyformation.  The paper deals with the fundamental aspect and the path it took to the development of space programs inEthiopia, Focusing on major contributionmade by Ethiopian Space science Society and other different stake holder such asgovernmental and non-governmental organizations, space clubs and interested individual.The paper also discusses economic, social and political challenges faced and progress made during this years.
