    Abstract
    Abstract

21 years ago in Jerusalem at the IAC, Michael Potter, presented a paper entitled “The Outer Space-Cyberspace Nexus: Satellite Crimes.” The paper provided a framework for analytically understanding the outer space-cyberspace nexus.

Recently there have been arguments that “cyberspace” is dead. Decades ago we had to fight to enter a portal and immerse ourselves into cyberspace. In the internet of things, we are now immersed. In fact we have to fight, if we want to extricate ourselves from cyberspace. Is news of the death of cyberspace premature?

In this paper the authors argue the term, that cyberspace and “cybersecurity” remains a relevant and useful term, and a helpful way to organize our thoughts, our defenses and our responses to space systems security. The authors also provide an overview of the key related cyber threats to space systems.
