    Abstract
The Breakthrough Listen Initiative, announced in July 2015, is an international effort to conduct the world’s most sensitive, intensive and comprehensive search for advanced life beyond the Earth. Breakthrough Listen is sponsored by a 10-year 100-million-dollar commitment from the Breakthrough Prize Foundation. Breakthrough Listen will employ the world’s largest telescopes, including radio searches using the Green Bank Telescope in the United States and the Parkes Telescope in Australia and a spectroscopic optical search using the robotic Automated Planet Finder telescope in California.

We will present an overview of the Breakthrough Listen Initiative, including observing plans, currently installed instrumentation and early results.
