    Abstract
Space application plays an important part of our daily life today, from national security to our daily navigation. Understanding the importance of space technology application, the National Space Agency of Malaysia (ANGKASA) has initiated a project to utilize space technology application to assist and enhance service delivery of local authorities. Thus, this paper aims to study the challenges and lesson learned as a result of implementing space application in local authorities. There are at least six pilot local authorities selected for this study. They were provided with the smart city application developed by ANGKASA and its collaborators, including applications for facility management, waste management, license management and complaint management. These applications were enabled by space technology applications. Based on this study, improved and better tailored implementation of space application in local authorities could be achieved, considering the strength and limitations of local authorities. The scope of discussion in this paper is mainly in accordance to but not limited to local context and local implementation.
