    Abstract
The paper provides an overview of legal and regulatory aspects concerning the nascent markets for On-Orbit Servicing (OOS) and Active Debris Removal (ADR). Its purpose is to highlight factors which have a direct relation to and impact on the market and its specific economics. The first part summarizes different potential market segments and applications of OOS/ADR. The second part analyses the legal and regulatory aspects of OOS/ADR focussing namely on international and national space law, evolving rules for space traffic management, telecommunications law, insurance and standardisation. The third part identifies other branches of public international law which may serve as potential benchmarks for future specific laws and regulations on OOS/ADR. Environmental law dealing with international commons, specially protected areas and related waste disposal obligations, as well as with especially hazardous products and activities may provide important inputs to future rule-making on OOS/ADR.
